TRAINEESHIPS

Step 1: Choose your traineeship

FITNESS

Our fitness traineeships usually last 12 weeks.

During this time you will be placed with one of our partner employers (or in one of our own gym facilities with New Body Gym). You will complete around 70-100 hours work experience across 4 weeks at around 16-25 hours per week.

In return, you will also complete the level 2 gym instructing qualification to ensure you are qualified for the sector and highly employable. Depending on your current qualifications, you may also need to work towards functional skills English and/or Maths (including Essential Digital Skills). Work preparation training will be included as part of your placement and sector specific training (level 2 gym instructor). These studies will be delivered each week, across 9-12 weeks at the same time as your work placement.

When you begin your work placement for four weeks out of the 9-12 weeks in total we reduce your time in the classroom to ensure you are not overloaded with work.

Your work placement is an opportunity for you to impress your potential employer as our work placements are generally with employers looking to hire you onto an apprenticeship. Think of your work placement as an extended interview where you get plenty of time to get to know the industry, helping you decide if it is the right choice for you. It also gives your employer the chance to get to know you properly before offering you a position.

Employers:

A trainee or apprentice is a great addition to your team. You get the opportunity to recruit a loyal member of your team who will undergo relevant training for the sector. They will be highly invested in and will end up helping your business to continue to grow.

A note from Michael Rickards (director of TVA, New Body Gym and MSC LTD):

“Recruiting apprentices, especially through traineeships is the best business move I have ever made. It gave me the opportunity to really get to know my new team members before confirming employment and in return, helped them to see if the industry was for them. Having apprentices literally propelled my businesses forwards.

I spent years following the flawed principle that only I could do the job properly. I was also a control freak! When I hired apprentices and invested my time into them along with their training provider, I quickly found that I now had a team that I could delegate tasks on to that would usually take up ALL of my time. Which then made me available to spend much of time growing the business through MUCH more effective business development. And I have been MUCH healthier since, with highly reduced stress levels. Without investing in trainees and apprentices, my businesses would not have grown like they have”
